*Are you interested in finding a way to analyze different types of data while using the data to guide instruction?

This course is designed to explore a variety of ways of analyzing the discourse in classrooms. This is not intended to be a comprehensive review of all approaches to discourse analysis but rather a more in depth study of a particular approach, taken from the fields of education, sociology, and linguistics, which have proven most fruitful in the study of classroom discourse. You will be expected to use your own data or data that I provide in analyzing aspects of classroom interaction. We will be suing classroom data and non-educational text.
