Zakiyyah Bergen created thisLesson Plan_ Oral History Project 9_11 (grades Pre-K-5) at Roxboro Middle School. Wow, this is a great way to bring in primary sources. I truly enjoy when students own their work. This is a multi-step process with many expansion opportunities. These are just the bones of the lesson plan but think of what you can do to make this lesson an experience students will never forget. While students are acquiring knowledge from their elders they will also be able to conduct interviews. The format of presenting the content to their peers is also a wonderful idea. Students will be able to use a video camera, PowerPoint, or audio clips with pictures while expressing pivotal features of the interview. I truly enjoy when students are able to present content to peers, identify primary sources, and develop content that can be passed down from generation to generation.  Attached is a clip of an oral presentation on My favorite Pet but you get the idea!
